The design of the Fairley Residence involved an internal renovation and the extension of an external deck for a small, dark and poorly designed apartment near Gosford on the Central Coast. The client intended to live in the apartment during their retirement and as such required a home that could maximise floor and storage area while providing highly functional and well lit spaces.
The final design by CKDS Architecture involved the relocation of the kitchen and dining areas to a new central, open planned section of the apartment and provided a clear definition between the public and private parts of the home. Custom designed joinery was used to maximise storage and functionality while the selective removal of some internal walls provided greater access to natural light and the extensive views of Brisbane Water.
