Hamilton Additions

The Hamilton Additions provides a new living room, deck and kitchen space to the southern side of an existing cavity brick Hamilton home which was originally built in 1918. The addition overcomes the issue of northern light into the new living room and deck space through the creation of a series of high level windows and openings in a wedge form derived from the gable ends of the existing residence. The gable has been ‘cut in half’ to create an addition that harmonises with the existing yet is distinctly modern. The addition brings the outside in by opening up completely to the landscaped rear garden where a mango tree takes centre stage.
