The internal planning of the centre was developed around bringing the external play area into the building. With visual connections between the entry and play area to encourage greater interaction between staff, parents and children as well as providing a welcoming entry space.

The form was kept low and simple so not to be prominent within the low residential and open parkland context.
The centre was designed to respond to the sites orientation with the playrooms and outdoor area facing the east while the back of house areas and carpark to the west. The location of the centre in the middle of the site allowed the existing trees on-site to be retained while maintaining acoustic and visual privacy to the adjoining properties.
The brief developed for this project was a greater transparency between the interface of the play spaces and the public spaces. The main feature was providing a glazed wall between the reception area and the outdoor play space which allowed a direct view into the children’s area. Creating opportunities for children to wave goodbye to parents and parents to become more engaged in the play space of the children.
