Merewether Residence

A new build on a sloping site creating a dramatic series of volumes as it unfolds from the entry to a double height family room

This family home uses a pallet of face brickwork, polished concrete and timber floors with exposed steel structure.

Settled into a garden and presenting as a low, mid-century inspired, form of planar walls to the street, the house opens to two stories as the site drops away to the rear.

A central courtyard creates a private garden space the brings light deep into the plan. A regular and simple plan strategy is set up with a central entry and bedrooms, organised on one side with living rooms on the other. A kitchen is nestled under the bedroom wing to create a more intimate volume. At the rear of the house, a wide balcony braces, a sculpted garden.
