Flooring, lighting, acoustic treatments and a pallet of gentle colours were utilised to provide a calm space for students.
CKDS worked closely with the teaching and library staff at Sydney Distance Education High School to undertake the refurbishment of their existing school library, which is used by both High School and Primary School students. To achieve the flexibly required to cater to such a diverse range of school-age children, the library was broken down into areas, using shelving and operable furniture. Students can seek quiet study spaces and teachers can create teaching spaces for small and large groups, while allowing the library to be used by the general student body. The reconfiguration utilises flooring, lighting, acoustic treatments and a pallet of gentle colours to soften the feel of the library and provide a calm space for studying and learning.
