The Wamberal Residence is composed of a series of single-storey pavilions which follow the contours of the land. Linked together by rammed earth blade walls and separated by landscaped courtyards, the living areas open to sweeping views over the valley beyond while the bedrooms are sheltered to the south.

Oriented to take full advantage of the gentle north-facing slope, the pavilions deep-eaved skillion roofs are tilted to capture the winter sun while still protecting the house from the heat of summer.
Following the contours of the land, the living areas are positioned to the north to take full advantage of the sweeping rural views. In addition, the property features large entertaining areas and shared outdoor spaces which blur the lines between the indoors and outdoors.
The residence makes the most of passive strategies to ensure a comfortable home all year round. In summer, deep eaves provide protection from the intense sun while high ceilings and operable faces allow for natural ventilation. In winter, the tilt to the roof invites the winter sun to soak into the polished concrete floor and rammed earth walls, warming the house throughout.
