Cinque Residences

The architectural intent is for the design to read at a contemporary townhouse development addressing Maitland Road for maximum solar access.

The Cinque Residences consists of five new townhouses in Mayfield, NSW. Located on a corner site and fronting onto a busy arterial road, the units cleverly combine street setbacks and internal courtyards to ensure each unit has access to northern sunlight and outdoor space.

A simple material palette, carefully arranged forms and a repeated suite of architectural details combine to create a distinctive architectural composition.

The proposal involves the development of 5 double storey townhouses with single storey garages and living on the ground floor. All dwellings contain open-plan living spaces which open directly to an open courtyard with hard and soft landscaping. The layouts provide large open entertainment areas accommodating both interior and exterior living. The dwellings have been strategically positioned on the site to provide privacy of the outdoor space from the street and neighbouring dwellings and improve the amenity of these spaces. The Maitland Road façade has been carefully articulated and split into two forms to reduce the mass and scale of the development. The resulting design responds to the existing context and environmental constraints of the site.
